| Our 21st Annual Swap Shop, Static Show, and Auction was again a wonderful success! The weather was fantastic, the crowd was large, and the quality of the show was at it's best. Here is a summary of the show and a great deal of pictures showing all the happenings! | |
| A lot
of preparation went
into making this year's event even better than before. The club's goal was to have an
enjoyable event for all those who attended. Many members volunteered their time and
efforts in helping to set up the displays and get everything going. Preparations for this year's show started as early as the night before the show. Along with setting the layout for the tables and chairs, several club members were on hand to begin hanging aircraft from the ceiling of the exhibition hall to give the show a really great look. Here, Buddy Perdue, the club's resident "Giant Scale" modeler hangs the second of two big models he brought to display. The club had over 40 planes suspended from the ceiling for this year's show. |

Saturday morning started early for the RVRC
club members who helped put on the show. After an "early" 6:30AM breakfast at
Gary's Little Chef, everyone started filing into the rear entrance of the Roanoke
Civic Center Exhibition Hall about 7:25AM. The back loading door soon became very busy with hobby shops and other exhibitors unloading their wares with RVRC members assisting them with floor carts. RVRC member Jack Parrot is shown here helping an exhibitor unload from his trailer. |
| After two hours of hectic setup and preparation,
we were finally able to open the front doors a little before the 10:00AM start time. All
our exhibtors did a great job of refraining from making deals until the show got
officially underway. This gave everyone a chance at all the great items that were for
sale! Here comes the crowd! ..... |
