                   WarbirdsOverSalem2016                                    WarbirdsOverSalem2017

This event was October 22nd, 2016 & September 16th, 2017!  Both events held at our home field behind the old Timber Truss facility now owned & operated by Summit Helicopters.

Lots of neighboring clubs brought their warbirds and came to fly with us!  Camping was available but no RV hookups. We do have porta potties on site and electricity for charging stations.  We had a food vender and 50/50 drawing. Trophies were awarded for best warbirds in electric and fuel categories!  Also a foamy warbird battle  dogfight to the death !!

This event ran from 10am until 3pm, after that it is open class flying.  Flying what ever you wanted! Sunday was also open flying all day!  Everyone was welcome to come Friday evening after 5pm to setup camp.  After dark we roasted marshmallows, enjoyed some night flying, and watch wartime/aircraft based movies outdoors!

This years Warbirds over Salem was a joint task force operation with Commando Supply & the Roanoke Military Vehicle club.  They were on site with static displays and full scale military vehicles, as well as the presence of some true Veterans of our great nation.

The 8th Air Force Fellowship and the WWII Veterans of the RoundTable were in attendance to join us at Warbirds over Salem as well.

Sending her blessing for good flights and happy landings will be the widow of Maj. Fred O “Blue Eagle” Willson, WWII Tuskegee Airman.

The Bombshell’s of Virginia! These ladies were here posing with the planes, pilots, military vehicles and spectators alike.

For the kids, we had a bounce house, camo face painting, coloring books, and games.
